Brad began his investment career 19 years ago at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong. Before founding Radin Capital Partners, Brad was with Templeton Investment Management in Toronto in the role of Executive Vice President, Portfolio Manager, and Head of Templeton’s Global Small-Capitalization Team. At that firm, Brad managed the award-winning Templeton Global Smaller Companies Fund for over 11 years, from April 1999 to February 2011.Over the 10-year period ending December 31, 2010, the Fund, with Brad as Lead Portfolio Manager, outperformed 96% of all global equity funds (source: Bloomberg). During that same 10-year period, the Fund’s annual compound total return, gross of fees, was 9.9%* (C$). This compares favourably to the -1.3% return of the MSCI World Total Return Index (C$), the Fund’s benchmark, over the same 10-year period, and amounts to 1,120 bps of average annual outperformance over the full decade. On a calendar year basis (on the basis of its annual performance over the 10-year period ending December 31, 2010 – gross of fees), the Fund outperformed its benchmark and produced positive returns in eight out of 10 years.
With Brad as Lead Portfolio Manager, the Fund won the 2009 Canadian Investment Award and the 2010 Lipper Fund Award in its category.
Brad’s global and international small-cap mandates totalled over $5 billion in assets under management. Brad also managed large-cap international mandates for corporate and public pension plans. Brad joined Templeton’s global equity group in 1995 and was responsible for the fundamental equity research of companies in a wide variety of industries, countries and situations around the world.
Brad has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Report on Business magazine, The Globe & Mail, The National Post, Reuters, Bloomberg TV, and Business News Network (BNN). Brad also worked briefly in Taipei and Moscow. He attended the University of Western Ontario, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in bio-physics, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Business Administration (HBA), and a Master of Business Administration degree. Brad has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder since 1997.
Chris has over 16 years of experience in the investment management industry. As a Partner with the firm, Chris is responsible for business development and sales.
Prior to assuming his current role at Radin Capital Partners, Chris worked at Franklin Templeton Investments for 15 years, where he was involved with client service, business development, new product development, and managing a key sales territory.
Chris is highly regarded in the investment industry for his work with many of the top investment advisors in Toronto and throughout Ontario. As Regional Sales Manager with Franklin Templeton from 1999 to 2011, Chris built relationships, proposed investment solutions and provided outstanding client service, which, in many of those years, resulted in his territory being number one in Canada. He began his career in the investment industry as an associate with Regal Capital Planners.
Chris earned his Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario and is currently working toward his Chartered Investment Manager designation.
Judy is a Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. She specializes in risk management, compliance, and internal controls. As a Partner with and Chief Financial Officer of the firm, Judy has broad responsibilities involving financial management, internal controls, operations, and compliance.
Before taking on her current role as Chief Financial Officer at Radin Capital Partners, Judy worked at Franklin Templeton Investments in Toronto for seven years, where she progressed through key roles in the Global Internal Audit and Corporate Finance Departments.
Judy gained a broad and deep understanding of the investment industry during her tenure at Franklin Templeton. Her expertise is in assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of operational and financial internal controls in a variety of areas, including: compliance, portfolio risk management, fund controls, trade controls, settlement, transfer agency, and corporate services. Before her years at Franklin Templeton, she held supervisory and/or management roles at KPMG and American Express.
Judy earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant.
Joe is a CFA charterholder with considerable experience in the fundamental financial analysis of publicly listed and privately held smaller companies. As a Partner with the firm, Joe plays a significant role in the generation of new investment ideas, fundamental stock analysis, financial modelling, and portfolio positioning.
Before joining Radin Capital Partners, Joe was with Templeton Investment Management in Toronto where he specialized in the fundamental stock analysis of small-capitalization companies across a wide variety of industries and countries. Many of the companies Joe analyzed were in the non-bank financial services sector. Prior to Templeton, Joe worked at a private equity firm where he analyzed and performed due diligence on a large number of potential investment opportunities, most of which were small private companies. Joe began his investment career as an Associate Analyst in the equity research department of a boutique investment bank in Toronto that focused on small- and mid-sized companies.
Joe has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Master of Economics degree from Simon Fraser University.
Shaen has over 18 years of experience trading equity securities. As a Partner with the firm, Shaen will assume responsibility for equity trading in North America, Europe, and Asia. She will play a key role and add value in the timing of stock purchases and sales for the portfolios.
Prior to assuming her role at Radin Capital Partners, Shaen worked at Gluskin Sheff & Associates in Toronto for over 13 years. When she first joined Gluskin Sheff, the firm managed $700 million and, by the time she left, the firm managed $6 billion. At Gluskin Sheff, Shaen was responsible for trading a wide variety of portfolios including value, growth, long only, short only, and long/short covering both domestic and international markets. She also played a key role in the upgrading of the company’s systems and technology on the trading desk. Before joining Gluskin Sheff, Shaen was involved as a trader with the start up of the Toronto office of C. M. Oliver Inc., which was purchased by Canaccord Financial. Shaen started her trading career with Scotia Capital Markets.
Shaen was awarded her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. She is also an active member of the Institutional Equity Traders Association (IETA).
Joyce has over 18 years of administrative experience in the investment industry. In her role at Radin Capital, Joyce will assume responsibility for many aspects of client administration as well as general office management.
Before taking on her current role, Joyce was with Gluskin Sheff + Associates in Toronto for 18 years. At Gluskin Sheff, Joyce co-managed a 10-person client administration team. The team was responsible for new account openings, maintaining existing client relationships, handling all miscellaneous client requests and certain compliance issues.
Joyce completed a business program at Langside Commercial College in the United Kingdom. She has also completed an executive education course at the Schulich School of Business.
